Georgia Organic Solutions

Based in Blakely, Georgia Organic Solutions (GOS) is a farmer-owned supplier of plant-based disease, fungus, and pest control inputs approved for Certified Organic production. GOS specializes in neem oil, a multi-purpose biopesticide that also promotes germination in organic peanuts.

Georgia Peanut Commission

The Georgia Agricultural Commodity Commission for Peanuts was established in 1961 under the Commodities Promotion Act. The Commission conducts programs in the areas of promotion, research and education. Funding is derived from a $2 per ton assessment on all producers.

University of Georgia Peanut Team

Staffed by industry-leading scientists, agricultural economists, and Cooperative Extension personnel, the UGA Peanut Team is the leading source for up-to-the-minute agronomic recommendations for peanut producers in Georgia.

In 2018, with financial support from the USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement and the Bradley-Turner Foundation, Georgia Organics led a one-year project to develop a supply chain and marketplace around Certified Organic peanuts that could support small farmers.

In 2017, with generous support from the Turner Foundation and the USDA Office of Advocacy and Outreach, Georgia Organics launched the organic peanut initiative in partnership with SAAFON. While there are many challenges to growing the industry, there is a lot of continuing success.
